UNESCO World Audiovisual Archive Day is always held on 27th October and the theme for 2013 is ‘Saving Our Heritage for the Next Generation’. On this occasion FOCAL International will celebrate the event on Monday 28th October at BAFTA with an all day conference and evening screening under the banner – Battles of the Archives – A thing of the Past!

The conference is designed to inspire a new generation of film makers, to build bridges between the new and the old, the suppliers and users, the financiers and the spenders active in the use of archive content. The idea follows on from Richard Melman’s highly entertaining and informative panel discussion held at FOCAL International’s recent copyright conference where commissioners and producers talked on the significance of copyright on business decisions when making archive productions.
