StormStock founder publishes ‘The Ultimate Severe Weather Safety Guide’ – Book

StormStock founder and cinematographer Martin Lisius has published a new book titled “The Ultimate Severe Weather Safety Guide,” which is currently available as an e-Book on Kindle and Nook, and in paperback. It is scheduled to be released on iBook, which will feature many dramatic and beautiful storm footage clips captured by Lisius.
“I wrote the book to save lives,” Lisius said. “I used the knowledge I’ve gained from being around severe weather the past 40 years, and shared it as insight for the reader. It’s not just a list of safety tips, but an in-depth explanation of how people can best protect themselves, and their families, from tornadoes, hurricanes, lightning and other hazards.”
• The new book is available now at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. The iBook will be offered in the Apple iTunes Store in August.
• In addition to the guide, Lisius has rereleased his award-winning documentary “The Chasers of Tornado Alley,” which will be available for download from the iTunes Store next week.
Screenocean secures exclusive license deal with Channel 5
London based content licensing agency Screenocean has secured a deal with Channel 5 to become exclusive clip sales agent for the channels audiovisual catalogue. The deal, which was finalised on August the 4th.

David O’Hare leads Jukin Media Intenational licensing division – London
David O’Hare, formerly of Zodiak Clips and Getty Images will be heading up a new international licensing division for LA based viral video clip licensing agency Jukin Media from their new London offices.
They say: Jukin is the industry leader in licensing user-generated video clip content – caught-on-camera moments, extreme sports, fail videos, pets and wildlife videos – to nearly every major network and cable station in the US, as well as top digital publishers, advertising agencies, brands, and production companies; the company views overseas business as a prime opportunity for expansion.

Pond5 has secured $61 Million investment – plans growth
Multi stock media licensing agency Pond5 has raised $61 Million from investment houses Accel Partners and Stripes Group.
Pond5 say: ‘The funding is the first institutional investment for the company and will be used to fuel global growth, hiring, and product development.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The chief photographer’s duties include setting the standard for the staff in acquiring news video in the field. This includes an aggressive approach to covering spot news, shooting video, conducting interviews, running live shots and using other multimedia tools to gather content for nightly newscasts and the station’s online ventures. Duties will also include maintaining the company’s electronic news gathering equipment and fleet of news vehicles at its facilities in Columbia and Jefferson City. The successful candidate will be expected to function within the framework of a research-driven news department that emphasizes source cultivation, enterprise reporting and breaking news. Employee must have the flexibility to work in the modern newsroom and could be called upon to beat report, produce, web edit, etc.

ITN Source secures Rex Features Stills archive to compliment Footage licensing
ITN Source, the footage licensing division of UK news and multimedia content provider ITN will now be directly offering clients Still images from UK photo agency Rex Features to back up news clip requests.
ITN Source say: ‘The partnership has been formed in response to a growing demand from ITN Source’s clients in the Broadcast sector to access Still images for use in archive-based productions.’
As part of the agreement, ITN Source will be creating and supplying over 100,000 ITN stills to the Rex Features collection, covering a whole host of iconic news events captured over the last 60 years.
Andy Williams, Managing Director at ITN Source, says: “When we began looking at the Rex Features Stills archive, we were all struck by the synergies with our footage and the opportunities this would present for our clients in the broadcast sector. When we began getting to know the team at Rex, we discovered that we shared similar values of independent companies that have stood the test of time. The partnership agreement made a lot of sense from a number of angles.”
• Rex Features has over 10 million images that are searchable online as well as a further 15 million images that are kept in its archives. ITN Source has over 2.8 million archive news clips, programmes and film titles, representing almost 500,000 hours of footage dating back to 1896.
• As part of the agreement, ITN Source will be creating and supplying over 100,000 ITN stills to the Rex Features collection, covering a whole host of iconic news events captured over the last 60 years.
• This licensing partnership is currently trialling this in the UK market only.
