Framepool – New upload and search features online

FrampoolOnFN
Framepool are online with new search facilities on their footage platform:
• The first is the ability to upload a reference photo in order to find visually similar videos. This allows a user to quickly sort the search results according to the desired image composition. With additional keywords, the “similar” image results can be further narrowed. A customer reported: “I tried it and was surprised at the additional ideas this tool can provide”.
• The second is the ability to upload an EDL (Edit Decision List). After the first layout created with preview material, it usually is a time-consuming process to identify and collect the shot numbers that were used. Now this step can be much easier by uploading an EDL file. Our system identifies the shots from the provided file and creates a new shot list, which then can be licensed and downloaded directly from the website. Enthusiastic users have remarked: “This saves us a lot of time searching and identifying”

Time-Life ‘Life Around Us’ films now available via HBO Archives

HBOTimeOnPAN
HBO Archives has announced clip licensing availability for the first time ever from the 1968-71 Time-Life Films educational documentary series, “Life Around Us.”
They say: “We have fully restored the original 16mm films to HD, and all clips are now digitised and available on the HBO Archives website.
This series explored a wide range of issues in the natural and social sciences from all around the globe. Many of the topics covered, including climate change, developmental psychology of children, whaling and invasive species remain relevant today.
Footage includes both story-specific footage, as well as moment-in-time scenes of everyday life in the late 1960s. “The Ultimate Machine?” includes footage of advances in robotics at MIT alongside iconic imagery of computers in the workplace. “Rock-A-Bye Baby,” which screened at the White House in 1970, explores the sometimes devastating influence of infant treatment and child rearing. Other episodes feature in-depth looks at topics including scientific studies in Antarctica, animal communication, water conservation, deforestation and solar research.
All of the footage from the series had been transferred from film to HD. “It has been a priority of HBO Archives to make our film backed elements available in HD so clips can be seamlessly integrated into new productions and we are excited that this special material is now available,” said Michael Castro, Vice President, Post Delivery.

MediaShowroomOnFootageNews
Digital asset management specialists Mainstream Data have launched MediaShowroom a new video sales and tracking solution for media owners.

They say: “MediaShowroom empowers video content producers, allowing them to showcase their programming independent of time and space. Instead of burning and shipping DVDs to potential licensees—wasting time and money—MediaShowroom places potential programming buyers just one email link away from their own private content screening. The results are amazing: immediate customer satisfaction, secure video asset control, increased revenue, and dramatically lower costs,” said Scott Calder, President and CEO of Mainstream Data.
